While it is cloudless look at the night sky - there is Venus and Jupiter. You can easily find them - they shine magnificently being the brightest night objects after the Moon. You can observe Jupiter right after sunset and almost all night long. Venus is well seen clearly visible between 6 and 8 p.m. about 15 degrees above the horizon. It sets at approximately 8:30 p.m.

This image of Venus I took a few days ago at 8 p.m. from my house in the country window. Isn't it beautiful? :)

What did you use to take the picture? I've got friends who swear by all that's holy and Canonical that the only way to get a nighttime photo is all those tripods and similar contraptions. What was your solution?

PS Here is a minor linguistic suggestion: why not just say, 'a photo I took in the country,' thus eliminating the whole country house imbroglio that is sure to loom when it's a knotty architectural point? Or is it significant that it was a house?

I'll apparently surprise your friends, but I took it with a simple Canon PowerShot camera, just a bit of specific settings - that's all B)

It's an interesting suggestion, 'cause I really dislike all this "country house - house in the country - cottage" stuff! Thanks)
